According to the Metropolitan Police, a car collision with a primary school building in Wimbledon, south London, resulted in injuries to seven children and two adults on Thursday morning.

Emergency responders, including officers, firefighters, paramedics, and London’s Air Ambulance, promptly arrived at The Study Preparatory School on Camp Road in Wimbledon around 9:54 am. The school, situated on Wimbledon Common, is exclusively for girls aged four to 11 and is located just a mile away from the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, famous for hosting the prestigious tennis tournament.

The Metropolitan Police stated, “Officers are currently attending an incident at a primary school on Camp Road, Wimbledon. We received a report at 9:54 am that a car had collided with a building on the school premises. Multiple individuals are receiving medical treatment at the scene. We will provide further updates as soon as possible.”

In a subsequent tweet, the police clarified, “We have no reason to believe this incident is connected to terrorism. An investigation is underway to ascertain the complete circumstances surrounding the incident.” The London Fire Brigade also confirmed their assistance at the school via Twitter, stating, “We are currently supporting emergency services at a school incident in Wimbledon. Two fire engines and two fire rescue units are present.”

When contacted by the PA news agency, a woman from the school declined to comment.
